BERWICK Rangers came back from the dead to earn a draw against Alloa Athletic and give acting boss Ian Little another boost in his bid to become their full-time manager.
“It was an absolutely fantastic fightback and I am delighted,” said Little.
“After a first half display when we had looked the better side I was extremely disappointed to go in at the break a goal down having conceded so late in the half.
“When we started poorly in the second half and went two down I thought the writing was on the wall.
“But I have great faith in all the players and while it was a bit of a brave decision to take Darren Gribben off we decided to play with only three at the back and the changes certainly worked, because it was the two substitutes who scored the goals. The first gave us the lift we needed and the equaliser from Damon Gray was a magnificent effort.”
The Borderers twice had the ball in the net only for Darren Gribben and Stuart Noble both to be judged in offside positions before the Wasps took the lead 60 seconds before the break.
Steven May squared a perfect ball into the box for Ryan McCord to guide home past the helpless Jamie Barclay.
And May doubled the tally on the hour mark rifling home a stunning low 20-yard drive into the corner.
But Rangers were in no mood to surrender and sub Michael Deland scrambled the ball into the net in 77 minutes after Mark Docherty had headed off the line.
And five minutes later Alloa’s hopes of topping the table were dashed by Damon Gray’s thunderbolt as he latched onto a pass back by Darren Young.
