CARLISLE expect to tie up a loan deal for Manchester City youngster Chris Chantler before today’s deadline.

The two clubs have agreed a deal in principle to take Chantler to Brunton Park until January 2012.

Chantler, 20, is a product of the City Academy programme and graduated to make his first-team debut on his birthday in December 2010 as a substitute in the Blues’ Europa League tie against Juventus in Italy.

Manager Greg Abbott said: “Nothing is signed yet, but we spoke to David Platt a few weeks ago about him and we brought him up here so he could train with us and see how we do things.”
