Berwick Rangers 1 Elgin City 1

BERWICK Rangers caretaker manager Ian Little was more than happy with his side’s battling display which earned them a point against Elgin City at Shielfield.

“I always knew the players at Berwick had the ability but I wanted them to show me they have the desire and commitment, and in both respects I am pleased with the level of performance, ” said Little.

He has made no secret of his interest in the job vacated by Jimmy Crease.

Little continued: “People will probably judge me on the three games in which I have been placed in temporary charge, but on the evidence of this display they can draw their own conclusions.”

He admitted the 13th-minute dismissal of David Greenhill, shown a straight red card for tackling Stuart Leslie with his studs showing, was a bitter blow.

Little added: “There are some who might consider it was a harsh decision and certainly as one of the old school I always considered tackling was part of the game.

“But if that is the way a referee sees it then you have to accept it and just get on with the job in hand.”

Craig Gunn fired City in front at the second attempt on 33 minutes after the hesitant home defence failed to clear a delivery from Mark Nicolson, and only a brilliant Jamie Barclay save denied him a second minutes later.

But Rangers hit back on the stroke of half-time with Lee Currie providing the perfect pass into the box behind the defence for Darren Gribben to race through and slot home.
