CARLISLE United have agreed to sign Bristol City right-back Christian Ribeiro on loan until January 2.

Ribeiro, 21, came through the youth ranks at Ashton Gate and earned his first professional contract in 2006. Disaster struck just 34 minutes into his debut against Peterborough in 2008 when he damaged his cruciate ligament, leading to a long spell on the sidelines.

He has made 14 appearances for City in total and has enjoyed loan spells with Stockport County and Colchester United on his road back to recovery. He has also played at all levels for Wales, which includes two full international caps, making his debut at senior level against Croatia in May last year.

Carlisle manager Greg Abbott said: “We know all about Christian and we think he’ll be a good one for us.”
