Clyde 1
Berwick Rangers 4
BERWICK Rangers registered back-to-back league wins for the first time this season as they outclassed Clyde to move into fifth in the table.
Manager Jimmy Crease was delighted with the display.
He said: “We played very well and it was a good all-round performance.
“We stepped up our game from the disappointing display against Montrose a fortnight ago when we beat Peterhead last week and the players moved up another gear in this one.
“There were good individual showings and the win was fully justified.
“We defended well when we had to and now the strikers are hitting the target it makes all the difference.
“We might have had more because the ball was in the net again just after we took the lead, but for some reason the referee chalked it off and we also hit the frame twice.”
Rangers broke the deadlock four minutes before the interval when Damon Gray fired home from close range out of the reach of Filip Mentel.
However, John Neill levelled minutes after the restart.
Darren Gribben put the visitors in the driving seat with a quickfire double.
He headed home a Fraser McLaren cross in 54 minutes and was on target again with a fine shot three minutes later.
McLaren struck a post as Berwick continued to apply pressure and Darren Smith wrapped it up in the final minute after good work by Lee Currie.
Crease’s side entertain leaders Annan at Shielfield Park on Saturday.
The Borderers manager added: “It will be another tough fixture, but hopefully we can continue this form and match them.”
