Berwick hope to pull off a shock

BERWICK Rangers make the long trip to face First Division Ross County in the third round of the Scottish Cup today with manager Jimmy Crease confident of pulling off a shock, writes LUKE EDWARDS.

Berwick’s finest moment came in 1967 when they knocked Glasgow Rangers out of the same competition and Crease is looking forward to the challenge of trying to write his name into the record books.

He said: “It’s certainly going to be tough. They’re a full-time club and they’re up near the top of the first division so we’re clearly going there as underdogs. Having said that, there’s no need to be fearful. We will give it our best shot and are confident we can go up there and put on a performance.

“Being realistic, we have to have all our players perform to the best of their ability and hope some of theirs have an off day, but you never know in the cup.

“There’s always the chance of an upset, of one of the wee clubs knocking out one of the big boys, as the 1967 Berwick team so famously did.”
