Carlisle boss has sights on Scott Vernon

The former Sunderland and Newcastle United player is believed to be in talks with League Two Darlington.
Right-back Tony Kane has signed a two-year contract at Brunton Park after joining from Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer. Kane made nine appearances last season during a three-month loan spell.
Chris Turner has appointed one of his playing-day rivals to the coaching staff at neighbouring Hartlepool United. Gary Walsh competed with Turner for the Manchester United number one jersey between 1985 and 1988, but will now work alongside the 50-year-old on a part-time basis, having been named Hartlepool’s new goalkeeping coach.
The former Middlesbrough player held a similar position at Derby County until Nigel Clough’s arrival in December and has since worked with Liverpool’s academy and scouted for Blackburn Rovers.
Meanwhile, Norwegian striker Rune Lange has not given up hope of returning to Victoria Park once he recovers from the shoulder injury which ended his first spell.
The 32-year-old international joined on a short-term deal in the second half of last term but managed just three appearances before succumbing to the latest of many physical problems which have hampered the latter stages of his career.
