BERWICK Rangers boss Alan McGonigal watched Darren Gribben and Fraser McLaren ‘squabble’ over who was going to take a penalty as referee Euan Norris pointed to the spot.
Gribben won and went on to covert the penalty before giving a repeat performance in the second half to earn Rangers a point after two defeats.
McGonigal said: “I have no problem with them arguing over who is taking the penalties so long as they score.
“Fraser had staked a claim for the first but taking penalties is about confidence and Darren is riding on the crest of a wave. Credit to the way he stepped up to the mark to finish well for his third and fourth goals of the season.”
Kevin McLeish netted the first of three penalties awarded to put the visitors ahead in 21 minutes after Jamie Ewart who escaped with a caution brought down Jonathon Russell as he homed in on the target.
Gribben levelled with a 42nd-minute penalty when Jim Lister was floored. He gave Rangers the lead on the hour again from the spot when Sean Kilgannon blocked Craig Anderson’s route to goal.
Forfar’s new signing Graham Gibson, introduced as a second half trialist, scored the equaliser on 79 minutes squeezing the ball home from a tight angle.
