JARROW will end runners-up to champions New Marske if they win their final game of the season at Annfield Plain on Wednesday night.
They kept alive their chances of overtaking Whitehaven with victory against Ryhope CW at Perth Green on Saturday and although the Cumbrians also won, they have completed their programme.
Richard Stubbs, Craig Armstrong and Andrew Barclay, with a brace of goals, were on target for Jarrow with Ryhope's only reply credited to Michael Turnbull.
Whitehaven, who lead Jarrow by two points, had a big scare before defeating wooden-spoonists Silksworth Community with an 85th-minute winner.
The Wearsiders, who have conceded more than 100 goals, looked to be heading for another defeat when Michael Farrer fired the Cumbrians in front after only four minutes.
Much to the surprise of the home team, Silksworth levelled through Shaun Smith and with time running out it appeared they might snatch a draw but five minutes from time Craig Robson hit the winner to keep Whitehaven in with a chance of finishing second.
Annfield Plain comfortably defeated Hartlepool 3-1 thanks to goals by Stephen Kirkbride, Paul Henderson and Chris Magee. Stephen Chapman was Pool’s only marksman.
Boldon CA scored four times through David Hopper (2), Stephen Williams and Paul Burrell but still lost to champions New Marske who netted on seven occasions – taking their tally for the season to an impressive 118.
Alex Anderson (2), Shaun Mackin (2), Gary Wood, Kristian Kamara and Craig Gibbon were all on target for the Seasiders who have lost just two of their 35 games.
Glen Smith, Stephen Kirkbride and Luke Bennington earned Wolviston an easy win at Windscale and Teesside Athletic also won in Cumbria defeating Cleator Moor Celtic 3-2. Rob Hill (2) and James Smuk netted for the Teessiders with Carl Fillingham and Glyn Edwards replying.
