CRAIK Park in Morpeth was the venue for the final game of the season in the Arngrove Northern League First Division, which decided the last relegation position.
Northallerton Town knew only victory would keep them up and with just four minutes remaining they snatched a winning goal and consigned Bishop Auckland to Division Two.
The visitors made a good start and went in front as Callum Holbrook fired home. It was not until the 69th minute that the next goal was scored when Kevin Henderson delivered a clinical finish to level the scores.
With time running out, Lee Court fired in the winner which enabled Northallerton to complete their escape.
Bishop Auckland are relegated along with Washington and Jarrow Roofing, with the trio replaced in the top flight by Penrith, South Shields and Ryton.
This morning, Esh Winning meet Sunderland RCA in the final of the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup at Ryton’s Kingsley Park ground (11am kick-off) and, on Wednesday, Seaham Red Star is the venue for the Arngrove Northern League Cup final between Billingham Town and Shildon.
The remaining League fixture involves Birtley Town and Penrith and will be played on Thursday.
