NEW MARSKE moved a step closer to the league title, beating second-placed Whitehaven 3-1.

Whitehaven took the lead on half time when Kevin Holliday forced home from a corner. A penalty from Nicky Ward after 59 minutes brought the scores level after Martin Say had been fouled. A goal came from Sean Mackins who took advantage of a goalkeeping error. New Marske got their third four minutes from time when Gary Wood’s free-kick was headed in by Mackins.

Ryhope CW moved to within a point of Whitehaven, beating Coxhoe Athletic with Richard Jordan’s 70th-minute goal.

Jarrow scored four at Cleator Moor Celtic. Andrew Wilkinson’s corner was latched on to by Chris MacDonald after 17 minutes. But the Cumbrians then took a 2-1 lead. Craig Armstrong levelled for Jarrow after the interval and when Neil Clark was brought down in the penalty area, Armstrong obliged again. Liam Clark added a fourth before Cleator Moor made it 4-3 on full time.

Annfield Plain won at Guisborough Black Swan. Paul Henderson gave them a first half lead and he doubled the score seven minutes after the break with a header. With time running out, Philip Raisbeck ended the scoring.

Harton & Westoe produced a strong second half display and netted four times at Windscale. Philip Nicholson, Nicholas Kane, Alan Wilson and Anthony Cooke were on target.

Hartlepool moved up the table beating Willington 3-1. Andrew Ross set them on their way after nine minutes but Adam Blenkinsop broke through the middle to level the scores.

Sean Wood converted a penalty after 60 minutes before Andrew Ross’s strike completed the scoring.

Injury-hit Boldon CA ended their 0-0 draw at Teesside Athletic with just 10 fit players and a substitute goalkeeper.
