Harrogate Railway 1, Newcastle Blue Star 0

NEWCASTLE Blue Star finished an eventful season in mid-table after losing their final match at Harrogate’s Station View on Saturday.

Railway got on track early in the match scoring what proved to be the winning goal after five minutes. A cross from the right bobbled in the penalty area and fell to Ben Jones who stabbed his shot into the net.

Blue Star struggled to get their passing game together on Harrogate’s sloping pitch but shortly after the interval, top scorer Lee Novak came close on two occasions.

In the 50th minute, he hit the underside of the bar with a shot and then just minutes later, his effort smacked against the post.

The visitors, who had strong claims for a penalty turned down, continued to apply pressure but could not find the elusive equaliser.
