Wearside League

AFTER being held to a draw by New Marske in midweek, second-top Ryhope CW need full points from today’s local derby at Ashbrooke Belford House if they are to keep the pressure up on the leaders.

Ryhope secretary Duggy Benson, reported that Peter Benson and Robert Dixon both miss this afternoon’s fixture.

Michael Turnbull returns but five players – John Toomey, Mark Swindle Lee McMahon, Kevin Burns and Darren George – need fitness tests.

Ashbrooke Belford Hose, enjoying a good season during their first in the competition, also have injury worries with David Green, Michael O’Connor, David Christie and Martin Deacon all doubtful.

The hosts though anticipate Stephen Lewis, Paul Robinson and Mark Goodwin playing.

New Marske are minus Nickey Ward for their local derby at full-strength Teesside Athletic and third-top Hartlepool welcome the inclusion of Johnny Bolton, Brian Linighan, Anthony Broom , Chris Moody and Shaun Ross at Boldon CA.

Phil Ross, however, will not play again this season after suffering a leg injury during the midweek game at Harton and Westoe.

Annfield Plain enjoy the luxury of having a full pool of players to choose from at home to Easington Colliery, who have Dean Fox and David Paul suspend. Craig Murray who scored twice on his debut, is in line to play his second game.

The suspended Stephen Graham is Cleadon SC’s only absentee for the visit of Silksworth Community to Jack Clark Park but the Wearsiders are down to 14 players, including three goalkeepers.

Youth Academy members will be drafted into the first team squad.
