FORMER Gretna player Michael Tait is without a club after Newcastle Blue Star attempted to help him to move to a Scottish League side.
The Tynesiders agreed to cancel his loan contract but the Scottish club then pulled the plug, even though Tait was keen to join them.
“I feel for the lad. He cannot play for us, nor can he return to Gretna, who are prevented from signing players because they are in administration.
“We would have been very happy for him to stay at Kingston Park until the end of the season but now he cannot play for anyone” said manager Paul Baker.
Baker, meanwhile, is looking for an assistant to help him in the Arngrove Northern League next season. Anyone interested is asked to contact him at Kingston Park.
Gateshead, virtually assured of reaching the play-offs in UniBond League Premier Division, now have their eyes set on finishing at least third.
Today, Gateshead face another tough encounter at Marine, who are also in contention for the end of season shake-up.
With four consecutive wins and four clean sheets behind them, Gateshead are confident of taking another step towards their objective.
“No game is easy in this league but the lads are very confident especially following the midweek victory at Prescot Cables. We cannot afford to take anything for granted but I’ll be disappointed if we don’t return with at least a point,” said manager Ian Bogie.
Wayne Phillips and Paul Talbot are available.
