Blue Square North

AFTER claiming one point from their last five games, Blyth Spartans face a massive challenge at Croft Park this afternoon against Kettering, who could be crowned Blue Square North champions by the end of the day.

If Kettering win and other results go in their favour they will be uncatchable, but another defeat for Blyth will leave them sweating on the fringe of the relegation zone.

In a bid to bolster his squad for the crucial run-in, manager Harry Dunn has signed Richard Flollet who has had his registration cancelled by Solihull Moors. Flollet will be involved today but a condition of the transfer is that he will be unable to take part in the forthcoming fixture between the teams.

Dunn is also hoping to add former Carlisle United youngster Jed Dalton, who celebrates his 19th birthday tomorrow. Last night the paperwork had not been completed.

“Harry has worked hard in the last few days trying to bring in players. We are confident Dalton’s transfer will go through and we have until 5pm on Monday to beat the transfer deadline,” said secretary Ian Evans. “We are also looking at a couple of loan deals and they too could be wrapped up over the weekend.”
