BLYTH Spartans remain confident they will not be sucked into an end-of-season relegation dogfight despite losing their last two Blue Square North games by a single goal.
Today’s fixture with Hucknall Town, though, is of paramount importance to both clubs. Harry Dunn’s side has a five-point lead over their rivals but, despite having home advantage, will take nothing for granted since Hucknall won on their last outing.
A double blow for Spartans is the absence of strike pair Robbie Dale and Philip Bell. Martin Houlahan and Andrew Johnson are available and likely to spearhead the attack.
The development of a two-storey extension to the office block at Croft Park is underway under the Government’s Playing For Success Initiative. It will provide a classroom and the other facilities at Croft Park will be made available to youngsters from the area.
“The Premiership clubs have this kind of facility and we are delighted that at our level we have been recognised by the Government, who are funding the £110,000 cost,” said Evans.
