NEWCASTLE EAGLES' weekend win over Guildford Heat sent them into seventh heaven - and coach Fab Flournoy is hoping it is a sign of things to come.
Eagles beat the Heat 98-70 and are now third in the BBL standings, four points behind second-placed Cheshire Jets with a two games in hand, which puts them right back in the title hunt.
The Eagles are on a seven league game winning streak dating back to October and Flournoy is determined to keep that run going.
He said: “It was a big win for us. We are playing really well at this moment in time and what has pleased me is that the chemistry of the team is just right.
“The seven-game run shows the kind of form we have been in and we want to keep the streak going as long as possible.
“But I’m just taking it one match at a time because it will be a hard road towards the end of the season with the number of games we have to play.
“After the Leicester game on Friday, we basically have an NBA schedule of one game every four days for the next month or six weeks.
“And it’s not necessarily the number of fixtures that is the thing, it is how we are playing at the time.
“It is much easier to maintain your form than it is to fix a problem, so if we can go into that period with eight wins in a row, I will be happy.”
The Eagles won all of their last four games by more than 25 points, and Flournoy says that is also a good sign.
“We’ve had some really good wins – convincing wins, rather than borderline ones,” he said. “That is indicative of the kind of form we have been in and I just want us to keep it going.”
