Steady time at Chatton despite winds

ALL three lakes at Chatton have continued to fish well despite the recent high winds.

Ken Nott from North Shields had the best fish of the week with an 11lb rainbow that was safely returned to Dunnydeer Lake.

Other anglers who recorded good catches included Rob Frame from Newcastle who caught 14; Trevor Wadds from Craster who caught 10; and Matty Divine from Hadston who caught 10 to 8lb 8oz.

Stu Younger from Blyth, Drew Dickson from Hawick and Johnny McMahon each had nine; Kenny McMahon from Ilderton kept one and returned seven; and Peter Davison from New Hartley brought seven to the net.

Chatton Lake is fully booked on Saturday but Ross Lake and Dunnydeer Lake will be open as normal.

Fishing has been steady at Jubilee Lakes where Paul Richardson from Tynemouth safely returned a lovely brown trout of around 6lb.

The rod average at Knitsley Mill was 6.7 with good numbers of trout in the 3lb to 5lb 8oz brought to the net. Anglers taking advantage of the £10 day catch and release tickets included D McKenna who brought 21 to the net, L Rennberg of Burnopfield who had 17; and B Laddie from Consett who also caught 17.

R Rowley got Naworth off to a good start for 2012, landing rainbows of 20lb and 12lb.

Other good fish have been landed this week with T Davidson taking a fish of 10lb on worm; W Yates taking one of 10lb 8oz to fly; B McNeill landing a 10-pounder to fly and P McNeill landing one of 12lb to fly. The lake is carrying a little colour after all the rain, even so on some days the catches were very respectable.

The best catches were made by D Cruikshank with 13 to 3lb and M Proudfoot with 12 to 3lb all to fly.

Worm rods have been landing some reasonable catches at times, with some fish between six and 10lb.
