THE Wear is low at present and feeder tactics are being abandoned due to the blanket of weed but Pete McParlin had a chub of 4lb on trotted worm from the Wear at Shincliffe last week.
Bream are providing sport on the Big Waters at Seaton Burn where Phill Watts caught eight bream for 32lb. On The Angel Gareth Malman caught over 200lb of carp.
Once again roach have been eager feeders on Whittle Dene with anglers recording double figures and the best weight of 23lb was taken by Mr. W Meesan. Derwent reservoir has been fantastic this week with anglers catching over 20lb of roach in a session. Colin Thrower who had several roach between 1lb 8oz and 2lb weight, whilst Chris Morrison had the best catch of the week at 28lb.
The Drennan Super-league match on the, River Tees at Yarm. saw Chris Hawkes of Daiwa Cleveland Angling Centre win with 39lb 5oz made up of 15 bream. Mal Dunlop was runner up with 24lb 10oz with Peter Rambow snr third on 22lb 12oz.
Nine chub to 6lb ensured Nick Smith won the Middlesbrough AC Open on the Swale with 34lb 14oz, whilst the Northallerton AC match at Scruton was won by Graham Skirrey of Chester-le-Street with 16 chub for a total of 58lb.
Sunday’s match on Lookout was won by John Foster with 91lb 2oz. Saturday’s Open on Bowes went to Richard Wildman with 64lb 7oz. Friday’s Open on Lookout was won by John Foster on 46lb 3oz whilst the Wednesday evening open was won by Ray Underwood with 49lb 3oz
P Rennie with 18lb won Ryton and District’s match on Picton Pond on Sunday whilst John Knox made history by landing the first ever 20lb plus in a carp match when he won the latest King Carp event with 22lb 9oz.
An open day at Aldin Grange in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance was a success as £900.00 was raised.
Elsewhere ex-Newcastle United player Lee Bowyer recorded a two-fish catch of 114lb from France’s Rainbow Lake Fishery.

Tomorrow: An open will take place on the Angel complex at Bowes Lake, Yarm AA juniors hold their Festival Cup and the Lower Tees championships take place on the Tees at Bowesfield. Langley Park AC hold their Benny Brenkley Memorial Match on Aldin Grange. The Final match in the Big Waters AC Junior Summer League takes place with an 8am meet on Big Waters, whilst the same club are holding a work party on Dissington Pond, Ponteland, meeting at the car park 2pm, to take of swims 11, 12, and 13.
Sunday: A match will be held on Lookout Lake, a North East Super League Match takes place on Woodlands Aycliffe AC. Fish their Vic Mclean Memorial match on Aycliffe Pond whilst Wansbeck and Cramlington A.C. fish an evening series match on Horton Grange, and Leazes Park AA fish the Annual pairs match in the city centre fishery.
Monday: Langley Park hold a match on Tursdale from 6:30pm-9:30pm and another of Yarm AA's Monday evening sweepstakes takes place on the Tees.
Tuesday: The Tyneside Division of the Pike Anglers’ Club meet at Blaydon CIU Club, Blaydon Bank. All pike anglers are welcome.
Wednesday: A midweek open is schedule on The Angel, drawing at 6pm, and there is also an open on Woodlands, while Lakeside Angling club hold a business meeting at the Robn Hood Inn, Jarrow, and Hetton Lyons hold a Wednesday evening match on Stephenson’s Pond.
Thursday: Four in One AC meet at The Bay Horse Pub, Whickham, while Ferryhill and District meet in the Catholic Club, Dean Road, Ferryhill. An Open will take place on The Oaks at Sessay and Sunderland FAC host an evening match on Silksworth, fishing from 6pm-9pm.
Friday: An afternoon open will take place on The Angel, fishing 2pm-7pm while Aycliffe A.C. Fish a match on Aycliffe Pond and CADCAC contest another match in their Friday Evening League
