How to get The Journal on your mobile

Here's a step by step guide to getting The Journal on your mobile phone:

VIA TEXT

Step 1

Send the word JOURNAL in a text message to 67800. Your message to us will cost your standard network rate, (usually around 10p per text, depending on your network and tariff or text bundle).

Step 2

We will send you a FREE text message straight away which contains a link in it.

Step 3

Open the message and click on the link. This will open up your phone's internet browser and take you to Journal Mobile. Once you get to our mobile site, don't forget to save it as a bookmark in your phone so that you can easily go back to Journal Live mobile site whenever you want.

VIA WEB BROWSER

Or...If you know how to enter web addresses into your mobile browser (depending on your network, your web browser will be referred to as Vodafone Live, Orange World, 02 Active, T-Zones or Planet 3), you can access the Journal mobile site that way.

Once you've opened this choose the option 'go to web address' and enter m.journallive.co.uk, this will take you to the Journal site.

You don't need the usual www. prefix used on web browsers so if you're having problems and your phone automatically adds this then delete it.

Journal Mobile is free to access and use, costing only what your network charges you for data or browsing. Standard network and data charges apply depending on your network and contract.

It really couldn’t be simpler to use Journal Mobile, but we’ve tried to answer some of the questions you might have.

Will it work on my handset?

Yes, nearly all handsets are internet enabled. If you think your phone doesn’t support the internet, or you have tried to access Journal Mobile on your phone and it doesn’t work, you should contact your network operator and ask for help connecting to the mobile internet.

Can I use it on my i-Phone too?

Yes, it works on i-Phones too. Journal Mobile is much simpler to navigate on a small screen than normal websites and it loads in a split second.

Can I access Journal Mobile on my network?

Yes, it is available from ALL network operators.
 
How much does it cost?

We do not charge for mobile content. Journal Mobile is free, no registration or subscription is required, but your network operator may impose data charges. We have done our best to take out the costlier bits, for example by making our photos just as big as they need to be for a mobile screen and therefore reducing data costs. 

Most networks offer a mobile internet package so you don’t have to pay by the amount of data you download. This can work out as the most cost-effective way of doing things. Please contact your mobile operator or see their website for more information on data charges or packages.

Can I read the content on a small mobile screen?

Journal Mobile has been specially designed with phones in mind. All the pages, pictures and other content fit perfectly on a smaller screen.

How do I bookmark Journal Mobile on my phone?

Most handsets give you the opportunity to bookmark your favourite sites. When you've accessed the Journal Mobile site, open your phone’s option menu and select ‘bookmark’ or ‘add to favourites’. The site will then be saved on your phone, allowing you to select it again from your bookmarks menu the next time you want to visit. In future, simply select the link from your bookmarks or favourites menu to connect to Journal Mobile.

How do I personalise the Journal Mobile site?

Journal Mobile can be customised according to your preferences. Click on ‘Personalise My Journal' - this can be found at the bottom of the homepage, and will take you to a page that gives you the option to select the content you want to see displayed on the homepage every time you visit. You can select from Business, News, Sport, and Culture and Lifestyle. You can also personalise your horoscope and local weather.

What do I get on Journal Mobile?

Journal Mobile contains all the great content you see on Journal, but in a format specifically for mobile. The site has been designed with mobiles in mind; it’s faster and cheaper than looking at a normal website on your phone.

It's easy to navigate, loads quickly, and is a great way to access local news on the move, as well as the latest sport, live football scores and much more. The service automatically updates stories throughout the day so you’re always kept up to date.
