Entrepeneur Azim Hussain

AZIM Hussain, 29, is one of the region’s brightest young entrepreneurs.

He started investing in property when he was still in his teens and, after graduating in finance and accounting from Sunderland University, he set up Thornberry Properties with his cousin.

He later moved into road haulage via The Logistix Group in 2006, which now employs 70 staff with a truck and trailer fleet of over 200. Along with his fellow directors, Azim hopes to double the company’s annual turnover to £11m.

With both companies thriving, Azim’s aim is to continue building up a diverse portfolio of businesses. With a house in Middlesbrough and a flat in Jesmond, Azim divides his time between the two.

He recently got engaged to Uzma Anwar and is busy organising
their wedding, which will take
place at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield in July.
