FOR those of you who are looking for inspiration here is the update on my client Mark Allison who is a year and a half in to his two and a half year training programme, which will end with him running 3100 miles across America.
That’s 31 miles a day for 100 days!!
Putting that in some sort of perspective that’s like running the Great North Run then turning round and running back to the start then adding another five miles, per day for 100 days, staggering!
He is an absolute inspiration and is totally dedicated to raising as much money as possible for the Children’s Foundation and St Benedict’s Hospice. The pain he has to endure with the punishing training schedule is mind blowing yet he is so physically and mentally strong he thrives on it.
To find out more about Mark Allison (run Geordie run) and would like to sponsor him visit his website www.rungeordierun.com ever penny goes to the charities as Mark is funding the whole project himself.
If you want things badly enough no matter how big the challenge you will find a way to get there!!
As you train this week spare a thought for Mark and this should inspire you to do that little bit more and work that little bit harder.
Here are this weeks training options. Remember they are a guideline and can be adapted to go within your own training programme or you can simply pick certain sessions or exercises to do, every individual is different with their own goals and ideas of what they want to achieve.
Always make sure you warm up before each workout and cool down and stretch after.
Longer Workout, 40 - 45 minutes
Change where you run and your environment, drive in to the country or to the coast and pick a scenic route and enjoy a long easy run/walk or cycle. Moving away from your usual training routes changes your outlook and keeps things fresh and interesting. Enjoy the training rather than push yourself.
