Beat the bulge

Fitness expert David Fairlamb show you how to keep in shape this Christmas.
DECEMBER doesn’t have to mean excess food and drink, especially if you are trying to watch your weight.
If you are concerned about your weight ballooning over the Christmas period, planning your month can help. Log the nights and days when you are likely to eat and drink more than usual and use the other days to eat as healthily as possible. Following my weekly tips will help you pull back on the saturated fat and calories.
Here are this week’s training options. Remember they are a guideline and can be adapted to go within your own training programme or you can simply pick certain sessions or exercises to do. Every individual is different, and each of us has their own goals and ideas of what they want to achieve.
Always make sure you warm up before each workout and cool down and stretch after.
This week simply add some resistance within your session. If you are walking or running outside, add some hills. If you are working out in the gym on the bike, rower, or cross trainer, add extra resistance and test yourself more than usual. Ensure you keep a record of your speed and resistance so you can look back at your improvements.
