Enhanced Climbing Performance

Its great to see the popularity of activities such as climbing and fell running continue to grow.  The functional strength and movement demands and interaction with the natural environment mean there are many health and performance benefits.  Whether you take advantage of all that Northumberland has to offer or use the high quality climbing walls across the region, it is worth complementing your progress with the best in strength and conditioning, corrective exercise and soft tissue therapies.

Climbing Fitness
Whatever your level of participation you will appreciate the fitness demands involved.  Your performance will be dictated by, among others, your:
· Isometric/Static Strength
· Strength Endurance
· Power
· Co-ordintation
· Functional Flexibility
· Short, medium and long term energy systems.

How do these relate to you?  What are your strengths and weaknesses?  They all make up your success and ability to have the grip strength in hand holds, be able to hold that position efficiently, move smoothly and often quickly into the next position, controlling bodyweight, maintaining holding strength and postures and repeating these demands to the end of the route without undue fatigue.

Presentation Invitation (19th November)
To complement your ongoing training, yourself and all your climbing associates are invited, for FREE, to the 'Northern Integrative Health Practice' for the 'Enhancing Climbing Performance' presentation. This is a unique opportunity to get the climbing community together, offer opportunities, insight and education, identify needs and share ideas. As highly qualified Corrective Exercise and Strength Coaches and Therapists we look forward to a progressive and innovative evening of cutting edge techniques for climbers.

Where and When?
Held at the NIHP (Sacriston, Co. Durham) Thursday 19th November (6.30pm to 8.30pm), where we are passionate about health and performance. Being able to work with local athletes and groups in the region is a massive goal for us. We have the facilities and expertise to complement what is already being done and take health and performance to the next level, all under one roof.

Rarely do we all get the opportunity to take an integrative look at health, let alone sport. For any person wanting to enhance their ability on the rock, unlocking the connective tissue power, staying injury free, or just feeling healthier, it is essential that we look at the whole individual. As you know, climbing is extremely demanding (soft tissue, fascia, musculoskeletal, joints) and conditioning could be essential for a number of reasons:

Enhanced Climbing Conditioning
· Postural correction for injury prevention
· Core function for an increased power base.
· Strength and conditioning for climbing-specific fitness
· Learn Instant Muscle Strengthening Techniques.
· Bodywork Therapies for structural balance and injury reduction
· Connective tissue therapies for tightness, tension and power.
· Nutrition for greater energy levels and repair.
· Periodised training programmes
· Physiotherapy for shoulder, wrist, elbow and lower back pain.
· Sports massage for recovery strategies
