Working out with celebrity A-listers

Personal trainer Tracy Anderson has helped tone the physiques of A-list stars such as Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Shakira. She tells Liz Lamb how to achieve the perfect body.

She says: “If you actually give it proper concentration and follow the proper method you can achieve it.

“I’ve worked with women who have completely changed their bodies. They have bodies they never thought they could.

“For me to have created that is fantastic. I’m on a huge mission to make sure every woman has this.

“When we have a problem area or we’re unhappy with our bodies it affects our self-esteem.”

"My philosophy is if you want a runner's butt, then run. If you want a dancer's body, dance.

“If you want to fight age and skin elasticity issues and problem areas, you have to design your muscular structure to help you accomplish that.

“Your muscles are manipulative and your body will react to what you put in it and how you use it.”

She believes everyone should work out for an hour every day.

“You have to take time to do it,” she explains. “I don’t know why in the world we are not all making and working our bodies.

“Our bodies are so important. We should be working them six, seven days a week.

“ We all make time to brush our teeth or take a shower. Your teeth are just a small part of your body.

“Your body is everything. It’s your health, your longevity, it’s your self-esteem.

“What I am trying to do is arm people with as much information as I can to enable them to make the changes themselves.”

And the best thing about Tracy’s method is that you get to eat plenty too!

She says: “I have definition, I don’t have cellulite and I eat. I’m able to enjoy my food.

“I love that I can eat. I had 13 pancakes with my son the other day.

“You don’t have to starve yourself.

“In the beginning you have to focus on eating when you are trying to lose weight, but once that’s off and you are working out every day you can enjoy your Sunday roasts.

“We all have to join together and do this.

“Everybody can get the body they want.”

Tracy's top tips:
