Emma Bell puts colour into summer

NORTH fashion designer Emma Bell has produced a stunning collection of clothes for spring/summer. LIZ LAMB brings you an exclusive preview.

BOLD, bright and slightly kooky, you can never accuse Emma Bell of being dull with her fashion designs.

The 26-year-old, from Kingston Park in Newcastle, has recently returned from Vienna, where she has been working hard on her spring/summer collection.

The flamboyant designer was offered the dream opportunity to showcase her work at Vienna Fashion Week after she was awarded an artist-in-residence programme based in the Museums Quarter in Vienna.

For the past few months she has been designing her 2010 collection in the Austrian capital and working with talented local photographers and artists.

The SS10 collection features a nostalgic nod to traditional crafts using quilting, tie dye and embroidery. Emma has also used knitted yarns and plastics and was influenced by British boxing, Austrian culture and hand-dying.

She has also been working on her first handbag collection in collaboration with hand-dye specialist Pebelle and British handbag designer Helen Rochfort.

Emma created three pieces of graphic artwork to feature on Rochfort’s signature bags which recently went on show at Clothes Show Live.

She says: “I am really pleased with the new collection. It’s really vibrant and I had a great time in Vienna.

“It was a fantastic opportunity.”

Here’s an exclusive peek and what she has to offer for spring/summer.
