Scott Henshall

“I’ve employed people since 1998 who worked for Courtaulds or Marks & Spencer in factories in the North East, who are skilled seamstresses and pattern-cutters – a great deal of talent that I have been able to tap into.

“They are people who are passionate about their work.”

The designer’s other achievements include being made creative director of British luxury brand Mulberry where he was credited for taking the Mulberry name into the 21st Century.

Scott’s own labels have sold in Harvey Nicols, Harrods, Joseph, Koh Samui, Mimi, Colette in Paris and Bergdorf Goodman in New York. He also retains full artistic control of his label “Revisitation by Scott Henshall” which now has over 300 stockists worldwide and 17 own- label stores.

Behind the scenes, the designer is an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust. Last year, he received an award from the Queen at Buckingham Palace for his contribution to English fashion and design.

He has also appeared on television, in I’m a Celebrity and winning Britain’s Best Dish.

On Wednesday he hosts The Journal’s Lavish and Luxe one-night-only event at Wynard Hall. The evening includes a night of fashion, hair and beauty which will include a fashion show and exhibitors showcasing a stylish array of goods from vintage clothing to jewellery and beauty products.
