Jet-set beauty

Get set for your summer hols with our jet-set beauty essentials. Katharine Capocci has all the tips for streamlining your beauty haul with suitcase-friendly products.

GOING on holiday is a great time to ditch those beauty products and enjoy having a natural, sun-kissed glow and beach-head hair.

But in reality, all too often that bulging toiletries bag finds it way into the suitcase. However, by streamlining your beauty haul you’ll have more room for sarongs, sandals and bikinis, while ensuring you don’t go over your baggage allowance.

Linda Robson, manager of the Space.NK beauty emporium in Newcastle, explains there are two ways of making your beautifying routine more suitcase-friendly.

She suggests either multi-use products or making use of lightweight mini travel sets. “If you’re going on holiday you should be thinking about simplifying and streamlining,” says Linda.

“Think about mini sets or making your beauty products work in a different way by multi-tasking. You only really need a few key products and you are set.

“It’s all about being bronzed and beautiful for the summer.”

Linda recommends Nars Laguna bronzer and Orgasm blush, Space.NK’s summer bestsellers, and Nars multiples, which come in 12 colours, multi-functional cult bestsellers for eyes, lips and cheeks, costing £27.

In terms of skincare and for a luxurious treat, the Eve Lom travel bag contains petite sizes of her iconic products – cleanser, cloth, mask, moisturiser and hand cream, for £50.

And the Frederic Fekkai Technician travel pack with shampoo, conditioner, colour glaze and hairspray and travel comb, £32.50, isn’t so much a travel kit as a full-on hair holiday.

Make room for a fab shower gel and body lotion combo, the Diptyque travelpack in Philosykos, £23. With its wonderful rich fig scent, it’s just like a Greek summer’s day, says Linda.

Here’s our pick of the best of the rest in jet-set beauty essentials.

MAKEUP

Condensing your makeup bag can be tricky if you’re a cosmetics junkie. Look for a neutral or metallic colour palette which includes a selection of blushes, eye shadows and lip colours. Then pack your own concealer stick, tinted moisturiser and mascara.

Try Vie At Home Summer Capsule Collection palette, £15 (0845 300 8022/www.virginvieathome.com); Bobbi Brown Customised Palette, £10, to be filled with individual products from £13 each (www.bobbibrown.co.uk).

FACE

Forget your usual lengthy bedtime routines. There’s no time or space for anti-ageing lotions and potions when you’re on holiday. All you need is your cleanser, toner and daily moisturiser to maintain skincare standards.

Try Bliss Youth As We Know It Travel Kit, £35 (0808 100 4151/www.blisslondon.co.uk); The Sanctuary Spa Facial Starter Kit, £9.79 (www.thesanctuary.co.uk).
