Rising above it all

Rebecca Young looks at a retailer for tall women who is head and shoulders above the competition.
TALLER women, and at 5ft 10in I’m one myself, can have a nightmare when it comes to simply find a pair of jeans or a long sleeved top to fit right.
A lot of people assume that it is just leg length you have a problem with when you’re taller, but there’s the length of sleeves and the length of the body in tops and blouses to contend with. Skirt and dress lengths can also pose a problem, as well as shoe sizes.
Although most high street chains such as Topshop and Dorothy Perkins now have tall ranges, Long Tall Sally, a specialist retailer for women 5ft 8in and over, still remains the first port of call for women who do not fit into what is classed as the “average” size range.
Long Tall Sally, established 31 years ago, prides itself on not just adding inches, but designing and developing beautiful clothes. Most of their shoes and boots also go up to a size 11.
There’s an exciting season coming up for the brand, with a new website and branding being launched alongside the new collection. They are also introducing their new resident style expert, writer, model, and presenter of What Not To Wear, Lisa Butcher.
At 6ft tall, Lisa fits perfectly into the Long Tall Sally ethos and has personally selected her favourite essentials for the coming Autumn Winter season. From structured tailoring and must-have knits, to luxurious coats and great weekend wear, there’s something within her selected range for every taller lady.
For great basics that fit well in the areas you need them to and that are great for building your wardrobe around, head online to Long Tall Sally and start planning a shopping trip to York or Edinburgh.
