GETTING a good hair colour is something which pre-occupies many women.
Blonde can be too brassy or too grey, brunette can have too much red in or not enough.
I’m a blonde, dark blonde naturally and a good deal lighter by choice.
So why did I leave getting my roots done for a whole year? Well, partially being too busy, partially being too skint (moving house takes it out of you) and partially due to a vain hope the summer sun would naturally highlight my hair.
Well it finally kicked in something needed to be done this August so I decided to try out Aveda’s hair colouring system at Savannah Spa in Newcastle.
Apparently Aveda colour moisturises your hair as it goes on, unlike many harsher dyes. My hair is always highlighted so anything which combats the dryness bleach normally brings is welcome.
My stylist Laura (who has also recently begun styling the Sunderland football team’s hair!) shows me three shades, my natural colour, a mid-blonde with warmth and a paler blonde, which will give me the desired lightening effect I want without any artificial brassiness.
Savannah Salon prides itself on offering a full experience and I very much enjoyed my complimentary hand and arm massage.
I often get worried when my hair is done but I felt very confident I was in capable hands, and luckily it proved to be so.
My new blonde hair is wonderfully soft and natural, with a blow-dry and makeup touch up I feel transformed – and by just lifting my hair colour I look a lot more tanned, and feel lighter.
This is what a good hair colour should do – and I’d recommend anyone try out both the Aveda hair colouring system and the expert treatment at Savannah.
