Lulu shares her beauty secrets for looking good at 62

Pop icon Lulu was in the region this week to promote her beauty range. LIZ LAMB caught up with her to find out her secret to looking good in her 60s

Time Bomb aims to combat and help with signs of aging such as sagging, thinning, dryness, wrinkling and dulling of the skin. Products include Take-Off Time Cleansing Cream (£12) and Polishing Pads (£5) to remove tired, dead skin and stimulate cell renewal, wiping away any evidence of the ravages of time and Time Bomb Eye R&R Make-Up Remover to banish all traces of eye makeup, gently, thoroughly and without damaging skin.

The top sellers at Fenwick in Newcastle are Glory Day cream (£25) which has been engineered to seal in key moisturising ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and essential oils, for longer lasting, more powerful results. Youth Juice Secret Oil, (£30) which replaces natural oils lost with age, is also a big seller on Tyneside.

“The ladies were telling me they had used the products before which was sweet,” says Lulu. “People always ask me if I use Time Bomb and do you know what, I really do.

“I cleanse twice a day and use Glory Day cream to moisturise. Mature skin gets dry and grey but you don’t want to look like an old prune. Time Bomb Blast to the Past Dermabrasion gently removes dry, dull skin to show a youthful surface underneath. I want to tell all women about that.”

Alongside the skincare collection is a hair care range called Operation Glam. Kevin Moss, who works for celebrity hairdresser John Frieda, was also at the Newcastle event.

He said: “John developed the range when he was married to Lulu. It was only ever for her. She wanted a product to lift her roots so we devised a formula over 20 years ago. We decided to launch the range in October 2009.”

As well as the beauty and hair care lines, Lulu has also published a book, Lulu’s Secrets to Looking Good.

“I have to look good. A couple of years ago, I was standing next to Kylie Minogue and I thought ‘I’m glad I made an effort to look good’. I can hold my own. She is just gorgeous.

“But beauty isn’t about comparing yourself with others, it’s about looking as good as you can; it’s about you.”

Time Bomb is available from the beauty hall in Fenwick, Newcastle 0191 232 5100 or online at www.lulusplace.co.uk
