Tress to impress at spa

A Tyneside spa promises to sort out your tresses. Angela Upex did the roadtest.

AS a stressed-out working mum my hair routine is really what’s the best deal on shampoo and conditioner in the supermarket.

Although I might get the odd facial treatment for my birthday or Christmas, I would never really think of treating myself to a hair massage.

But a treatment has made me change my mind.

The Serenity in the City in Jesmond is home to ghd spa treatments among many others.

The staff suggested I tried the emergency rescue treatment for some serious relaxation.

Based in the heart of Jesmond on Osborne Road, Serenity in the City is the perfect escape from busy city life. I was greeted by friendly staff who gave me comfy spa slippers and water.

The spa is peaceful and beautifully decorated. My treatment room was spacious, gently lit and had relaxing background music.

My therapist did a quick health check and then I relaxed and enjoyed the emergency rescue treatment.

She told me that head, hair and scalp have often been forgotten on spa menus until now and ghd spa is encouraging treatments to achieve a healthy scalp and beautiful, shining hair.

The treatment aims to breathe life back into your hair using the company’s range for hair care.

The treatment is designed to soothe the scalp, while botanical serums target dry, coarse and damaged hair.

It began with a lovely shoulder to hand massage, moving on to cleansing the scalp with an exfoliating scalp repair designed to encourage cell renewal.

My hair and scalp were almost cocooned with a warm head halo as my therapist helped take the stress and strains away with her perfect massage.

I came out feeling relaxed and my hair felt remarkably soft and in good condition.

And the next day it certainly had a bit of vibrancy
