TRENDS are shifting like the colours of the leaves will soon enough, as summer turns to autumn.
When preparing for the upcoming makeup trends, bear in mind there is not just one look for autumn, there are many out there for you to mix and make your own. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
HIPPIE SOPHISTICATE
The continuing of the hippie trend from this summer is a classic make-up with concentration on the cheeks or lips.
Big or backcombed hair balances colouring in the face. Eyes come off best when painted dark and mysterious in this particular trend.
Have a combination of Amy Winehouse and the Woodstock of ’69 in mind when applying your makeup.
Bourjois has a new eye shadow on the market. Ombre Stretch, £5.95, enriched with nylon microspheres, sculpts the eyelid into pure magic.
Also try Superdrug’s makeup range, Gosh Khol liner, £4.50, Show Me Volume mascara, £7.50, and individual lashes, £6, make up this look with Beauty UK eye quartet, £2.99 and Famous eye shadow, £9.
CHOCOLATE
Autumn spells warm colours as well, and this autumn chocolate is highly fashionable.
Estée Lauder has a lovely new line, the chocolate decadence collection, which brings glowing skin, earthy tones and intensified eyes together.
The Estée Lauder chocolate box eye shadow quad, for instance, looks so good you’d want to eat it. For £28 you do with it what you like. Its pure long-lasting lipstick for £15 looks fabulous with it as well.
Another example of the chocolate look this autumn is the Mauve Collection from Bobbi Brown, focusing on enhancing the natural elements of the face.
Their Mauve face palette for £40 has all the different colouring you need along with a lipstick in the new colour Pale for £14.
It also has a wide collection of lip glosses, both shimmering and matte for £13.
GOTHIC GLAM
Another trend is concentrated on the lips. Dark red, nearly gothic lips steal the attention. Gone are the light red shades from early spring.
The best buy for the season would be a plum matte lipstick.
Mac offers an excellent product, Viva Glam III for £11. Top with the Cult of Cherry lipglass.
An extension to Gothic Glam is to go extreme with your makeup. “Less is more exists no more”, so to speak. Dare you combine dark eyes with red lips?
Eyes, cheeks and lips all look their very best when the centre of attention, all at the same time.
Mac is at Fenwick, Newcastle, and House of Fraser, MetroCentre; Estée Lauder is also available at Fenwick and larger Boots.
Bobbi Brown is available at Fenwick and John Lewis, Newcastle, and House of Fraser, MetroCentre, Bourjois is available at Boots, Tesco Superdrug and Waitrose. Superdrug stores are regionwide.
