Bizarre journey with sex and chocolates

A BIZARRE journey into the world of the weird and wonderful – with plenty of humour, sex and chocolate – is at the heart of a play which will premiere at Northern Stage in Newcastle on Friday.

Has Edward Been in Tonight? is a one-woman show by North East writer and actor Abigail Moffatt and will form part of the theatre’s Best of Three festival.

Best of Three is a new project, celebrating local talent and to feature a trio of productions specially picked to show off up-and-coming stars of the theatre world.

Abigail, who has an acting degree from Leeds University’s Bretton Hall, has been writing and developing her show since receiving funding from the Arts Council which has enabled her to develop her ideas into a full-length production.

The play tells of a woman called Fran who has an overwhelming passion for her man, her cookery book and her quest to be a perfect wife.

Abigail is delighted at her new opportunity.

She says: “It’s a great compliment to be recognised for my work by such a renowned theatre company.

“I really couldn’t have wished for a better start to my career.”

Has Edward Been in Tonight? can be seen on stage three of Northern Stage, Newcastle, on Friday at 9pm. Visit www.northernstage.co.uk or call (0191) 230-5151 for tickets.
