Jools Holland
JOOLS Holland is continuing what has become somewhat of a festive trend by booking two December dates at Newcastle City Hall later this year.
It may seem like only yesterday that Mr Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra had a pair of sell-out audiences on their feet at their favourite Tyneside venue, in what proved to be the perfect prelude to a rocking Christmas.
But when you have a band of that size, you need to get organised. And so the popular musician and broadcaster has booked in December 5 and 6, 2013, for fans to get an early start on the seasonal celebrations.
As is always the form, Jools will bring a special guest along on the tour bus. Last year it was Fine Young Cannibals frontman Roland Gift.
This year, for the first time it will be the girl they used to call Sporty Spice, Melanie C, currently starring in the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The former Spice Girl will join regular vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall and the rest of the orchestra as they perform hits from Jools’ full back catalogue.
He’ll also be showcasing songs from his latest release, The Golden Age of Song, which is currently residing at number 11 in the album charts.
Tickets for the Newcastle City Hall gigs go on sale at 10am on Friday and will be available from the box office on 0191 277 8030 or online at www.newcastlecityhall.org
