EIGHTEEN months ago a fire tore through the Liverpool band's recording studios on Penny Lane and lead singer Andy lost 500 tracks along with his beloved piano.
The cover of their album What Came From Fire bears images of the remnants of the blaze.
And if the implications of its title are to be believed, what came from the fire produced something quite special.
Here the product of three years of hard work was showcased to stunning effect.
Lead singer Andy Metcalfe loves playing before Newcastle crowds and that’s why they chose to start their tour here.
He said: “Newcastle’s brilliant – the people here are pretty much like back home which is great for us.”
“We wanted to start here because the crowds are always crazy and they didn’t let us down tonight.”
The sheer power of Metcalfe’s voice is captivating and his energy is infectious. His rasping vocals soar effortlessly over a wave of crashing indie-rock melodies such as Antarctica and Architects.
They finish with Alcatraz which sends the crowd into a frenzy.
