Star drops in for special screening
Nov 20 2009 by Barbara Hodgson, The Journal
GRAHAM Fellows is in Newcastle next week for a special screening at Tyneside Cinema of his new comedy Southern Softies.
The comic actor and musician will introduce the film which traces the exploits of his alter ego, John Shuttleworth, following his discovery of how grim it was up North.
Moving on from the 2005 film, It’s Nice Up North, the role sees Shuttleworth – the versatile singer and organist from Sheffield – next travel to the Channel Islands to see if it’s Soft Down South.
Along the way he meets all sorts of people, including photographer Martin Parr, who worked on his previous film.
Next Thursday, as well as introducing the film screening, Graham will be taking questions afterwards from the audience, about this and other comic creations.
Jonny Tull, programme manager of the Pilgrim Street cinema where Fellows proved a sell-out when he visited in 2005, said: “We’re thrilled to have Graham back.
“The audience had such a fantastic night the last time he was here. We might even hear from John too!”
