ALL’S fair in love and war, especially when there is a $3m divorce settlement at stake.
This is a romantic comedy about mismatched strangers Jack and Joy who tie the knot in the gambling capital – under the influence of alcohol – then head for the courts. Just as they finalise divorce plans, Jack wins a $3m jackpot, using Joy’s quarter. Needless to say, she wants half the winnings.
Animosity invariably kindles a spark of sexual attraction and this sweet yet slight confection totters towards its syrupy end.
British director Tom Vaughan is blessed with adorable and sexy lead actors who radiate charm despite a poor script and forgettable dialogue.
Goofy Ashton Kutcher and sophisticated Cameron Diaz do indeed attract, and there’s guilty pleasure in watching them spar. They win us over even if the film does not.
