YOU’VE heard of The Magnificent Seven. Well, a new show hot-hoofing it to Sunderland Empire is promising us the no less magnificent five.
The Spaghetti Western Orchestra arrives in town next month armed with more than 100 instruments and a fistful of spaghetti western classics.
Recreating a Clint Eastwood-style world with the help of Italian composer Ennio Morricone’s score, the five-strong gang of comic maestros will deliver sure-fire hits – with a difference, as they’ll be adding their own special touches to the soundtrack of films such as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, For A Few Dollars More and Once Upon a Time in The West.
So, expect a bit of bottle-blowing, cornflake-crushing and other special sound effects ranging from “playing” coat-hangers, apples and squeaky toys to rubber gloves, bicycle pumps and nail-clippers to recreate punch-ups, gunshots and jangling spurs.
The wild west will never have sounded so wild.
The Spaghetti Western Orchestra, which has played across the world since its 2007 premiere, comes to the Sunderland Empire on Sunday, February 19. For tickets, visit www.ATGtickets.com /Sunderland or call 0844 871 3022.
