Blur will play a gig in Newcastle in June.
Since the announcement of their impending back togetherness, the music world has been abuzz with anticipation for their sprawling live performances in Glastonbury and London’s Hyde Park.

But Newcastle fans will be able to sample the reformed band’s live incarnation at an altogether more intimate warm up gig at the O2 Academy on June 25.
Manager of Blur, Chris Morrison; “Blur are playing a limited number of unique shows this summer and it’s been over ten years since we’ve played in Newcastle. The band are really enjoying rehearsals and looking forward to playing to their fans again.”
It was December 2, 1997 when Blur last played Newcastle - that gig was at the Arena - following the release of their self titled fifth studio album.
Two more studio albums were to come before the band, Alex James, Dave Rowntree, Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn who formed in Colchester in 1989, called things a day.
Tickets for the Newcastle gig, priced at £32.50 and limited to four per person, are on sale from the Academy box office www.newcastle-academy.co.uk from Friday, April 24 at 9am. Members of www.blur.co.uk will have access to a pre-sale though the site.
