Our amazing relationship with world all around us

Award-winning composer Nitin Sawhney

THE natural history series Human Planet, shown on BBC1 earlier this year, is to become a live show making its debut at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena next year.

BBC Worldwide and award-winning composer Nitin Sawhney have joined forces to create Human Planet Live.

They say the show will take audiences on a journey of the planet, showing the awe-inspiring relationship between human beings and nature.

The Human Planet Orchestra, conducted by Sawhney, will perform new arrangements of music from the series against a cinematic presentation of scenes from the Bafta-winning series.

Sawhney said: “Scoring the BBC’s Human Planet series was perhaps both my greatest privilege and greatest challenge.

“Despite that challenge, the breathtaking scenes of human co-existence with nature and determined resilience provided an inspiration beyond the boundaries of any musical soundtrack.

“The series itself is a true celebration of human diversity and deeply resonates with everything I believe in.”

Philip Murphy, managing director of BBC Worldwide’s Live Events business, added: “Given Nitin’s tremendous score for Human Planet and his ability as a musical performer in his own right, it is a natural extension of the series to create a live event.

“We’re very excited to be working with him, Live Nation and X-Ray Touring to bring the series to life this way.”

Human Planet Live will be premiered at the Metro Radio Arena on April 3, 2012. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am. Credit card booking and information line: 0844 493 6666 or in person from the box office.
