Don’t miss tomorrow’s bumper helping of Culture
Nov 30 2009 by Barbara Hodgson, The Journal
LOOKING for festive cheer and the best start to the New Year? That’s all part and Christmas parcel of the new edition of Culture magazine which comes FREE with your copy of The Journal tomorrow.
What’s more, as ’tis – almost – the season to be generous, it’s a double issue, with January highlights jostling for space with December’s delights.
So, as you’d expect, there’s a guide to the region’s pantos and festive shows, including interviews with two high-flying young Peter Pans, and a run-down of classical concerts.
Comedian Bill Bailey, who graces our front cover, discusses his own classical take on the time of year, and we spend a busy day at The Sage Gateshead, which celebrates its 5th birthday this December. Big celebrations all round there.
Other reasons to celebrate include the arrival of West End musical success story Mamma Mia! in Newcastle – you can meet a North East member of the cast – and a Christmas stocking-ful of music, outdoor events, art, theatre and literature.
That includes an interview with the Northum- berland author of a magical cat story.
And in case you’re already wondering about what resolutions you can make for the New Year, we have drawn up a list of 10 cultural highlights you should resolve to go and see over 2010.
It’s a cracker of an edition so don’t miss tomorrow’s paper for your free copy.
And you can also check it out online, where you can flick back over former editions, too.
