First art show is fruit of two lifetimes

Northumberland’s Art Tour features a solo exhibition of colourful landscapes by Linda Scott-Robinson. As she embarks on her debut show, she tells Tamzin Lewis about a debt of gratitude to her father

“Riding means that I get out to meander around in the beautiful countryside. And because I get up so early to travel to work I see the most dramatic sunrises.”

Linda’s vibrant acrylic and watercolours capture the epic scenery around her home, in a style which is quite different from Hieronym’s. Linda says: “My father was a good draughtsman and painted in a tighter, more photographic way. I like splashing on the colour. I am interested in the way man impinges on the landscape, particularly in fields, creating patterns. Sometimes I see fleeting lighting effects and have to remember how the landscape looked back in the studio. Occasionally the land appears to glow.”

Since last Christmas Linda has been preparing for the summer Art Tour, a series of openings of artists’ studios and galleries, organised by the Artists in Northumberland Network. She is exhibiting 30 paintings at Breeze Art Cafe in Wooler High Street in June.

She says: “Network has been very supportive and without Network I wouldn’t have had the guts to do this. The group has definitely given me the confidence to go ahead and exhibit my paintings.”

Linda Scott-Robinson’s work is at Breeze Art Cafe, Wooler, from June 13. She is at Breeze on June 13, 14, 21 and 28. www.lindascottrobinson.co.uk.
