Tenor Ben to rescue at the Proms

The 19th North East Last Night of the Proms concert will take place at Newcastle City Hall tonight with a last minute addition to the line-up.

Australian tenor Blake Fischer, a regular at the charity concert for several years, has gone down with chicken pox and has nominated his friend, fellow Aussie tenor Ben Kerslake, as stand in.

He’s a worthy replacement, too, judging by some of the excellent reviews of operatic performances posted on his website.

North East bass Graeme Danby will make his debut in the concert in aid of the NEPAC cancer charity alongside stalwarts Janice Cairns and Suzanne Manuell.
